Learning comes to life at Axia College, as students read, research, discuss and put theory into their every day lives. Our 60-credit curriculum provides a foundation with the general education disciplines of communication arts, social sciences, mathematics, life sciences, and the humanities. Within each Associate of Arts degree program, students will also gain foundational competencies in areas of study relevant for today.

Associate of Arts in Accounting
The Associate of Arts in Accounting degree program can help students develop a foundation of knowledge related to accounting in terms of business strategy, financial statements, cost information, economics, management, and ethical issues. Students encounter real-world scenarios in which they use accounting information resources and systems to present conclusions based on accounting and business data.

Associate of Arts in Business
The Associate of Arts in Business focuses on the topics of business, accounting, economics, finance and marketing in a global society. In this degree program, students explore fundamental business principles and learn to apply problem-solving strategies to real-life scenarios. Some program activities include SWOT analysis, examination of the supply and demand curve, a review of the relationship between marketing and sales and implementation of basic financial planning techniques.

Associate of Arts in Communications
Students enrolled in the Associate of Arts in Communications degree program will develop a foundation for understanding and practicing the effective exchange of information, ranging from interpersonal and small group communications, to public speaking and mass media. Courses include a 'win-win' communications processes, problem-solving information strategies, and news presentations for print, web and broadcast delivery.

Associate of Arts in Criminal Justice
The Associate of Arts in Criminal Justice degree program focuses on policing practices, corrections, the criminal court system and juvenile justice. Students take a comprehensive look at these topics through interactive assignments that not only develop their critical thinking skills, but also enable them to recognize the functions of the criminal justice professions within their communities.

Associate of Arts in Elementary Education
The Associate of Arts in Elementary Education degree program addresses major topics that impact instruction such as the historical and philosophical contexts of contemporary education, diversity in the classroom and the exceptional learner. Students are required to apply writing and problem-solving skills to evaluate topics covered through written assignments, discussion and debate. Where available, this program prepares students for transition into the Bachelor of Science in Elementary Education at University of Phoenix.

Associate of Arts in Financial Services
The Associate of Arts degree in Financial Services is designed to emphasize the development of skills, knowledge and attributes that can be found in the financial services industry, including accounting, banking, financial planning, investment and insurance. Students investigate money management, accounting procedures, financial transactions, regulatory issues and customer service in commercial and consumer arenas.

Associate of Arts in General Studies
The Associate of Arts degree in General Studies is designed to provide a foundation in liberal arts and sciences based on a survey of mathematics, physical and life sciences, humanities, social science and technology. As students become conversant with the values and terminology of these various academic disciplines, they will learn how best to access information resources and develop effective communication skills for informal, formal and quantitative tasks.

Associate of Arts in Health Care Administration
The Associate of Arts in Health Care Administration focuses on health care organizations, the roles of health care workers, public policy, information technology, financial management, and regulatory and ethical issues of health care. In this degree program, students will examine current strengths, weaknesses and challenges of the U.S. health care system.

Associate of Arts in Health Care Administration/Medical Records
The Associate of Arts in Health Care Administration with an emphasis on Medical Records lays a foundation for further study in health care at the bachelor’s degree level. Topics focus on medical terminology related to disease diagnosis and treatment, patient information management and medical claims processing. Software instruction synthesizes a variety of records processes common in medical facilities.

Associate of Arts in Health Care Administration/Pharmacy Practice
The Associate of Arts degree in Health Care Administration with an emphasis on Pharmacy Practice provides a context for the study of the basic operations of community and institutional pharmacies, as well as for further study in health care at the bachelor's degree level. Topics focus on medical terminology, disease diagnosis and treatment, basic pharmacy processes and equipment, and medical claims processing.

Associate of Arts in Hospitality, Travel and Tourism
The Associate of Arts in Hospitality, Travel and Tourism degree program provides content and practical application in an array of foodservice, lodging management and tourism settings. The concentration courses emphasize the leadership competencies and knowledge that comprise the foundation of management practices valued in today's hospitality industry. Successful completion of this associate's degree will help prepare students for further study in related programs at the bachelor's degree level.

Associate of Arts in Human Services Management
The Associate of Arts in Human Services Management degree program provides students a foundation of knowledge relating to the management of human services organizations. It offers an understanding of the roles of human services workers, public policy, multicultural practices, information technology, financial management and regulatory and ethical issues. Coursework in the concentration courses includes creating care plans, developing alternative funding strategies and determining the characteristics of good human services management.

Associate of Arts in Information Technology
The Associate of Arts in Information Technology focuses on project management, the Systems Development Life Cycle (SDLC), networking, Internet concepts, and design and programming fundamentals. This concentration's courses build upon the fundamentals of computer and networking design to provide students a foundation for understanding basic programming concepts as well as their application to business strategies. Students also will participate in real-world scenario-based problems and develop functional software applications.

Associate of Arts in Information Technology/Networking
The Associate of Arts in Information Technology/Networking degree program offers a functional overview of information systems and the analysis, design and security of modern computer networks. Concentration courses emphasize Local Area Networks, Wireless Local Area Networks, Wide Area Networks, and network security. In this degree program, students will be able to simulate network administration tasks through remote access to real hardware and software commonly used in the IT industry.

Associate of Arts in Information Technology/Visual Communication
The Associate of Arts degree in Information Technology/Visual Communication focuses on the business application of visual design elements such as composition, style and layout. Students will analyze the proper use of color and textures, create and modify graphic images and correct and restore photographs. In addition, students will use Web authoring tools and basic HTML programming to conceptualize, design and create quality Web sites.

Associate of Arts in Paraprofessional Education
The Associate of Arts in Paraprofessional Education degree program addresses major topics that impact instruction. Students learn historical and philosophical contexts for contemporary educational approaches, child development and the tasks one might encounter in a classroom setting. Upon graduation, students will be conversant with the values and terminology of the field.

Associate of Arts in Psychology
The Associate of Arts in Psychology degree focuses on positive psychology, theories of personality, human sexuality, the physiological and neurological basis of human behavior, psychological disorders and social interactions. Students analyze the interrelationship of fundamental theories and how they define and explain human behavior, development and abnormalities. Students also evaluate the robustness of various psychometrics, develop their own theories, and assess the impact of cognition on physical and mental health.

Associate of Arts in Sport Management
The Associate of Arts in Sport Management degree program lays a foundation for further study in sport and recreation management. The concentration courses focus on developing knowledge, skills and attributes in areas such as management and leadership, ethics, budgeting and finance, communications marketing and social-cultural factors—all within a sport-related adaptation.
